BEHS Archery Rules and Regulations
Updated September 2025
Cellphones:
Communication:
Communication is key, please let us know as far in advance as possible that you will miss a practice or tournament. For tournaments especially, we still pay whether you show up or not, so if we have enough advance notice we can remove you from the tournament roster and not pay for your entry fee for that tournament, so please keep that in mind. It is wasteful to the rest of the team if you do not communicate with the coaches.
Our current communication will be through Rooms
o Parents and Archers must join Rooms.
o The two other ways of communication are our website www.BullittEastArchery.com and our Facebook group Bullitt East Archery. The group is private, so please request to join. There is a public page that is no longer in use. Students are not allowed to join the Facebook group per the new law.

Attendance:
Practices:
Practices are from 6:30pm-7:30pm and 7:30pm-8:30pm on Tuesday/Thursday with 3D/Optional on Mondays 6:30pm-8:30pm. For the Tues/Thurs we will need to know which hour works best for each archer and we will sort that out after tryouts.
Grades:
We are sent grades weekly. If an archer has anything below a C, they are required to be placed on a practice only roster and are ineligible to participate in tournaments. If they maintain that grade below a C for an extended period, they are moved to a no participation roster. This is non-negotiable. Not only is it required by the school, but as a team we put their education first. If they maintain this grade for long enough, they may become ineligible for any out of state tournaments and other aspects of this sport.
- Absolutely no cellphones use, during practices, unless it is an emergency and approved by a coach.
- Please turn/leave cellphones on silent for the duration of practices/tournaments.
- During tournaments, leave your cellphone in your bow case or with your parent. No usage of cellphones while you are shooting at a tournament.
- Phones are not allowed on or past the shooting line. This includes scoring or otherwise participating in practices/tournaments. This is a safety concern and is non-negotiable. If there is a reason you need to be on your phone, please let us know, otherwise it will be expected to leave it in the bleachers, bow case, backpack, etc. just not in your hands for the duration of practices/tournaments.

Practices:
- If you cannot wear it to school, you cannot wear it to archery.
- Closed toed, full cover shoes are required, you will not be able to participate in any capacity without. That means your entire foot, including the heel, is covered. No sandals, no flip flops, if you must ask the answer is likely no. If you show up to practice or tournaments without adequate footwear, you will be sent home.
- Absolutely no hoodies or jackets on the line.
- Hoodie strings/jacket zippers can get caught in the bowstring/cams. (This has happened multiple times this season.)
- Bow strings like to get caught on baggy sleeves and this will cause issues with your shooting.
- Shirts should not reveal anything your BE Archery shirt does not.
- If something comes uncovered while you shoot, it is too short and you will be asked to put on another shirt or excused from practice.
- Shirts should be long enough that your stomach does not show when you draw your bow.
- Pants/shorts should be of appropriate length per the BEHS dress guidelines.
- If your pants/shorts do not stay up on their own then they do not need to be worn to practice.
- Specific items of clothing that are not allowed:

- If you miss a tournament, it costs the team money to register you and have you no show.
- Please let us know as early as you can, so the changes can be made prior to the tournament.
- We understand things happen, just communicate with the coaches as best you can when you are able.
- Practice times are listed and assigned to groups.
- You cannot change your group without approval from a coach.
- You are expected to be at every practice, 5-10 min prior to the start of practice. If you cannot make a practice, let a coach know.

- You are expected to be IN THE BUILDING no later than 30 minutes prior to a tournament.

BEHS ARCHERY 2025/2026 PARENT/ARCHER AGREEMENT
1. Archers will be required to attend at least 2 practices per week. If this is an issue, see the Coaching Staff for possible arrangements.
2. Practice starts at 6:30pm & 7:30pm. Archers are expected to be on time and help with range setup before we begin, and tear down when we are finished. We will stop early enough to allow for teardown and storage of the equipment.
3. Parents are to pick up archers promptly at 7:30pm & 8:30pm, respectively, on practice nights. Archers will not be released until all equipment is put away.
4. BEHS grade policy will be strictly enforced. Grades will be pulled on Fridays. Any Archer with 1 or more Fs will be ineligible for practice and competitions from Sunday to Saturday the following week. If an Archer appears on the ineligible list for 3 consecutive weeks, they will be dismissed from the team.
5. When the Archer is at practice or a tournament, the BEHS Coaching Staff will coach the Archers. We ask that there be no coaching from the stands. Also, we will not allow score "flashing" to parents and/or spectators during the tournaments.
6. Due to safety reasons, all practices will be closed to anyone not a member of the BE Archery Team or a BE Coach.
7. All Archers will be required to arrive at all tournaments a minimum of 30 minutes before their flight time. Less than that, we cannot guarantee the archer will be allowed to shoot. If an archer misses the flight, without communicating with a coach, the archer will not be allowed to shoot at the following tournament.
8. Red Team and Gold Team assignments are not permanent. The scores and attitudes will be evaluated before each tournament, and teams will be assigned. The lowest 4 scores on the Red Team Will move to the Gold Team, with the top 4 Archers on the Gold Team will be moved to the Red Team.
9. Cell phones WILL NOT be allowed at practice. We will start the season by letting the archers place the phone in their bow cases during practice. If this does not work, then we will collect the phones at the beginning of practice, and a member of the Coaching Staff will secure them until practice is over. If the Archer needs to keep their phone for medical reasons, please let the Coaching Staff know, and they will be allowed to do so. If you need to get in contact with your
Archer, please reach out to a Coach.
10. Negative attitude, disruptive behavior, negative body language while shooting, disrespecting a Coach/ Archer, or taking part in an unsafe manner will not be tolerated.
11. Should an Archer miss 3 practices without notice/written excuse, they will not be allowed to shoot at the next tournament. If an Archer is benched twice, the 3rd will be a dismissal from the team. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate.
12. Any form of cheating will not be tolerated and will result in immediate dismissal from the team.
