This week there is a lot going on at the school, such as Halloween in the Halls, and as a result we have to cancel practice for Thursday. That means Thursday, October 27, there will be NO PRACTICE. This does not affect Monday or Tuesday practices.
Speaking on Monday's practice we will be starting those optional Monday practices this week. So far I have only a few people that have told me they would be attending Monday nights, so if you have not said something to one of the coaches then please do so sooner rather than later so we know how many to expect each Monday. Monday WILL NOT be split into 2 practices at the moment, so plan on being there 6:30-7:30 if you attend. This season has potential to be the best BE Archery has seen. We have a good group of kids, a solid coaching staff, and incredible parent support. I am incredibly eager to get this season rolling. Thank you! For those that missed the parent meeting: We absolutely MUST have a physical turned in ASAP if you have not already turned one in. Students cannot participate in any school sport without one on file. If your archer participates in another sport, then their physical turned in for that sport should be on file already, I do not need an additional copy, the office can provide that. Fees: $100 Archery Fee Checks should be made out to BE Archery and turned in before our first tournament Nov 18. $35 Athletic Fee Checks should be made out to Bullitt East High School, though this can also be paid on My School Bucks (small transaction fee applies via MSB). Communication: We have moved to a new Remind in order to solve some issues we had in our previous group. This was due to limits with the program and just needed to be done. New Remind Code: @BEArchers You can join by sending @BEArchers to 81010 and it will enroll you in text updates for our group. The two other main ways of communication are via this website and our FaceBook group: Bullitt East Archery Schedule: We do require archers to regularly attend both the Tuesday and Thursday practices each week. If you cannot make those 2 practices, then please speak with us and we will see what we can do. We also offer Monday practices in addition to the Tues/Thurs but this one is completely optional. It is meant to be used as an extra resource, not a replacement or alternative to the Tues/Thurs practices. Expectations: If you are sick, please stay home! This could be the flu, covid, strep, or any other illness, the expectation is that if you are not allowed at school, you are not allowed at practice. We want to keep everyone as healthy as we can and able to participate, so please be kind to your teammates and don't get them sick. Bingo is our main fundraiser and as such requires some input from us. Each archer should have 2 "spots" filled each season. The link is https://bit.ly/3B32CX4 for bingo, please sign up if you have not already. If you have any questions about bingo please reach out via FaceBook and Lea will be able to answer bingo questions through there. Each year we host an annual tournament, sometimes 2, at BE. When we host these tournaments we need volunteers to work a variety of different spots as well as donate what we will sell as concessions. The list of what we need is sent out a while before each tournament and has deadlines for filling spots and bringing goods so please keep an eye out for that and sign up where you are able. Archers are also able to work the tournament and especially needed for setup and teardown, but there are a few exceptions for things they cannot do and those will be noted on the signup. We also have a dress code that needs to be followed. For the most part, if you cannot wear it to school then you cannot wear it to practice. A few archery specific requirements are:
Communication is key, please let us know as far in advance as possible that you will miss a practice or tournament. For tournaments especially, we still pay whether you show up or not, so if we have enough advance notice we can remove you from the tournament roster and not pay for your entry fee for that tournament, so please keep that in mind. Practices are from 6:70-7:30 and 7:30-8:30 on Tuesday/Thursday with an optional one on Mondays. For the Tues/Thurs we need to know what time works best for you if you have not already communicated this. Phones are not allowed on the shooting line, while scoring, or otherwise participating at practices/tournaments. This is a safety concern and is non-negotiable. If there is a reason you need to be on your phone, please let us know, otherwise it will be expected to leave it in the bleachers, bow case, backpack, ect. just not in your hand. One last thing to note is that we want to help each and every one of our archers shoot the best that they can. To do this we ask that parents please let us know if you think your archer is doing something wrong or has developed a bad habit or anything that you think requires further coaching, rather than trying to correct that yourselves. We understand you want to help but we think it is best for our archers to have that come from our coaching staff. This applies especially at tournaments, please do not suggest changes while your archer is shooting. I promise, it hurts more often that it helps. Practice is for change and learning, tournaments apply what we've practiced. I believe that encompasses everything we covered at the parent meeting. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Glad to have a team selected and eager to start the season! The first practice this year will be Tuesday, October 18th at 6:30PM. To start the season, practices will be split by grade levels as follows:
We will also be having a parent meeting on this day to discuss paperwork, fees, communication, and expectations. Parents please come during your archer's practice time. If you are unable, please reach out and let us know and we will make sure you still get the info you need. Archers, please bring your bows, you will be shooting. If you do not have a bow of your own, make sure we know so we can assign you a bow that night. Due to issues with the Remind message platform, we will be changing how we communicate with Remind at this meeting. I would like to start off by saying thank you to everyone who came to try out. The parents, archers, and coaches that build this community grow every year and this year was one of the biggest turnouts we have seen. We had to make many tough choices this year. Each and every choice we made was discussed thoroughly between the coaching staff. 2022/2023 Bullitt East Archery TeamAbell, Nathan Alvey, Rayanne Baker, Hayden Billingsley, Brock Brock, Brian Campbell, Jacob Clan, Nolan Clark, Ava Cornell, Clive Foster, Kate Frantz, Kaylyn Gensheimer, Haleigh Grasmick, Megan Greenwell, Graicey Guitierrez, Andrew Guitierrez, Brandon Halfhill, Caroline Hamaker, Cheyenne Hamaker, Josh Hendricks, Emily Herman, Connor Hogue, Mackenzie Holland, Trey Hollifield, Jonah Kelley, Ava Lagermann, Rachel Lehring, Brayden Masterson, Caleb McGinty, Ireland Meese, Bricyn Meredith, Lucas Priddy, Layla Pugh, Calliegh Roach, Keatin Ruzicka, Robert Schmidt, Alex Schroader, Emily Sexton, Evan Shofner, Marian Smith, Kennedy Stansberry, Elijah Taylor, Kylie Vanover, Jayden Walker, Emma Willis, Grace Young, Jacob Yowell, Alexis If you have any questions or concerns you can message us on facebook or join the remind by texting @archerybe to 81010 and message us there.
Summer has ended and school is back in session and before long the archery season will be back! This year we are doing things a little different so please be aware of this change:
Tryouts will be September 12th-September 16th 6:30PM to 8:30PM Monday September 12th: Informational Meeting Tuesday September 13th: Pre Tryout Warmup, Shake the Summer Dust Wednesday September 14th: No Tryouts Thursday September 15th: Instructional Scoring Day Friday September 16th: Last Day of Tryouts We understand some people may not be able to make it every day, if this is the case please make sure to be at the Monday meeting to let us know. These are closed tryouts, parents are welcome to wait in the lobby, but are not allowed in the gym. If there are any questions or concerns please contact us and let us know. We have our criteria we look for in an archer. Our decision is not solely based on score or any other single area. Please remember to have fun give it your best. As we approach the end of the year, here are a few things coming up (in no particular order):
First up is Archer Pictures: Archery Pictures will be March 29th during normal practice time. For this however EVERYONE needs to be there at 6:30 and we will let people go as quick as we can after starting with the group picture/senior pictures if possible and working our way through individuals after that. Please be there by 6:30! Next is the BE Pre Nationals Tournament and Senior Night: Our second and final tournament will be on April 23rd. Flights are from 9AM to 5PM in both gyms and this will be a joint tournament with Eastside Middle. They had to cancel a tournament earlier in the year, we were only going to do one gym, so it worked out to join forces with them and split the work! We will only be responsible for operating the big gym and the front concessions ect., they will be manning the small gym and everything else back there. A signup will be sent out for help during the tournament later this week. Senior night will also be during this tournament between the last flight and awards. Senior parents and seniors please make sure to be there at the end of the tournament! More info will be given out at practice as there is a paper I need each of our seniors to fill out. Banquet: The date is still pending for our Archery Banquet. It will be at the end of April or at the start of May. We will let you know as soon as we have a confirmed date with the school. Every year we make a video for the seniors. Parents of seniors please send me any and all pictures of your seniors to [email protected] when you are able. Pictures need to be submitted by April 24th at the latest. This can be anything from baby pictures to senior photos. If you have any questions just let me know! Nationals and World: Nationals will take place May 11-13 and the World Tournament will be June 22-25. Both take place at the fairgrounds just like State this year. Our day/flights will be determined for Nationals in the near future and World will be determined after Nationals is over. We do not know if both teams we be participating or what the limitations might be for who is able to participate in each. We will let you know as soon as we are able. The calendar is now working to properly sync with the BEHS yearly calendar. This was supposed to work from the start but at some point stopped and was never fixed. Now you can accurately see what is happening with both archery and the school.
The state tournament is right around the corner. Due to flight limitations we had to split the teams across two days. One group will be shooting Friday and one on Saturday. Both are at 3:30PM at the fairgrounds on their respective days. If you need help figuring out transportation let us know and we will work with you.
For those who shoot on Friday: You will be excused early from classes. Whomever is checking you out just needs to let them know it is for the state archery tournament and it will count as excused. Kenny recommends getting checked out between 1:30 and 1:45 to avoid the school traffic. Lets bring our A game! PLEASE NOTE: If you have not signed up to help please do so here:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0a4eadae2fabf58-archery There are a few that have said they will be around to help all day, I have already entered your name in signup genius in the open, applicable spots. Some of you will be moved as needed to other positions depending on the help we need during the flight. If you are helping out in the morning, please be at the school by 8:30 at the latest, otherwise please show up for your assigned time. If there are any additional donations for the raffles, concessions, or for the hospitality room, please bring them tonight if at all possible. Please wear a mask while inside the building! Archers please wear your 2022 Archery shirt and jeans/khakis with no holes while you are helping out. If you are signed up to work later in the day but are able to be there earlier or are able to stay beyond your scheduled time the extra help will be greatly appreciated. The first flight on Friday is at 7PM and the last starts at 9PM. The first flight on Saturday is at 9AM and the last starts at 5PM. Concessions, Raffles, and Admissions will be closing at 5:30PM and the Lane Officials and Announcers will be done at 6:00PM. We are planning for awards around 6:30PM. If there are any questions or concerns please let me know! Thank you all for your help and support, lets put on an awesome tournament! If you have a dish or snacks/drinks you would like to donate for the coaches/hospitality room please bring that Thursday or Friday (13th and 14th) between 6:30-8:30. Any additional donations are welcome!
We have had a few people offering to donate additional baskets or items to raffle for the tournament and that is greatly appreciated! You can bring it to the school during any practice or if we need to meet with you outside of practice we will make that happen as well. Thank you all for your help! The Bullitt East Annual Tournament will be on January 13th, 14th, and 15th this year as the calendar has shown for some time now. Since it is right around the corner, it is now time to outline how things will go and what we need of you:
The link to sign up for positions will be available via a remind message. If there are any questions or concerns about the items each archer is to bring in please let us know. Below is what we need from each Archer: Below is a breakdown of our volunteer positions needing filled:
